Welcome to La Braciola (Lillo Litro), a hidden gem nestled in the vibrant heart of Messina, Italy. Located at Via I Settembre, 134, this charming restaurant offers an invigorating dining experience that perfectly balances authenticity with affordability. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a lively atmosphere filled with the laughter of locals and the tantalizing aromas of freshly prepared dishes.

La Braciola specializes in piadine—a traditional Italian flatbread that has captivated the hearts (and stomachs) of visitors and locals alike. As you dive deeper into their menu, you’ll discover a smorgasbord of fillings, from classic ingredients to adventurous options like horse meat, perfect for those looking to step outside their culinary comfort zones. The option to customize your piadina ensures that every patron leaves satisfied, whether you're a vegetarian or a meat lover.

What sets La Braciola apart is not just the quality of food, but also the unbeatable prices. Customer reviews highlight the generous portion sizes that deliver great value for your Euro. Mark Zaynard praises the “excellent food” and calls out the “best public restroom” he's encountered in Italy—a humorous testament to the restaurant's focus on guest comfort. David Holley echoes this sentiment, noting the fantastic street food quality of their offerings. It’s a place where you can relish the communal spirit of dining while enjoying a few ice-cold beers from their extensive selection.

This is more than just a restaurant—it’s a gathering spot for young people looking to unwind and enjoy a reasonably priced meal. Seta L’s review adds to this sentiment, emphasizing the friendly vibe that’s hard to replicate. Whether you’re sharing a small plate of fries or diving into the extensive beer list, the ambiance buzzes with life, making it a perfect backdrop for social gatherings.

La Braciola (Lillo Litro) does have some quirks—like the absence of credit card payments noted by Youssef Majbri—but these small details only add to its charm. If you're in Messina, don’t pass up the opportunity to experience this local favorite. Just remember, if you order their delicious and filling padines, don’t go overboard unless you truly have a big appetite!

In essence, La Braciola embodies the spirit of affordable yet exceptional Italian dining, reflecting the local culture while offering a satisfying experience. Whether you're a visitor or a resident, this spot deserves a place on your culinary map. Come with an empty stomach and an enthusiastic heart—you won’t regret it!

Visitor Testimonials (501)

Excellent food, excellent prices, and possibly the best public restroom I’ve encountered in Italy. For Americans, think po boys and quesadillas, but the food here is so far beyond those terms as to render them meaningless. You also get a lot of food for your Euro, so don’t make the mistake I did and order three padines unless you are really hungry.

Perfect place to join a lot of young people and have a reasonably priced small dinner. Salads are great and substitutions are allowed as long as the ingredient is seen in other items. They even have horse meat! The piadine are filling and great, you can ask for the ingredients you prefer. The list if beers is long, they have decent wine by the glass as well. Excellent value in Messina for a sit down place!

I enjoy being at this place, lovely ppl and acceptable prices btw doesn't accept credit cards

Excellent street food. Took a while to arrive but was obviously freshly made and delicious. Proximity to the cathedral makes you marvel at the prices as these are among the cheapest we have seen in Sicily. The staff are young and plainly enjoying themselves. The beer choice is incredible and all very well priced. We had chops (a piadine sandwich - like a wrap) which were lovely. A small plate of fries which was plenty for two, and a few beers. Only visiting Messina today, so return may not happen. But if I come again I will come here.

Cheap place to hangout with friends. Service is not the best but it's okay. As everything here is kind of cheaper maybe you can consider.
